5 Day Uganda Gorilla & Queen Elizabeth Wildlife Safari

Your safari begins with pick-up from Entebbe or Kampala, where you will meet your driver guide and start the journey west towards Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Travel through the countryside of western Uganda, passing towns, farmland and rural communities along the way. Depending on the agreed route and schedule, stops can be made during the journey for lunch, refreshments and sightseeing.

Continue towards Queen Elizabeth National Park and arrive later in the day. Transfer to your lodge, check in and spend the evening relaxing ahead of the following morning's game drive.

Begin the day with an early breakfast before heading into Queen Elizabeth National Park for a morning game drive.

Explore the open plains with your driver-guide, searching for elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, antelopes and other wildlife. Your guide will also look for predators such as lions and, with some luck, leopards.

The morning hours are particularly rewarding for game viewing before temperatures rise later in the day.

After the drive, return to your lodge for lunch and some time to relax.

In the afternoon, head to the Kazinga Channel for a boat safari. The natural channel connects Lake George and Lake Edward and attracts wildlife to its banks and surrounding waters.

Look for hippos, Nile crocodiles and numerous waterbirds during the cruise. Elephants, buffaloes and other animals may also be seen along the shoreline.

Return to your lodge after the boat safari for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, check out and travel south through Queen Elizabeth National Park towards the Ishasha sector.

Spend time exploring Ishasha with your driver-guide, searching for the tree climbing lions for which the area is particularly known. The lions may sometimes be found resting in large trees, although sightings are never guaranteed.

Ishasha also supports other savannah wildlife, and your guide will look for elephants, buffaloes, topis and other species while exploring the area.

After the game drive, continue towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The landscape gradually changes as you leave the savannah and approach the forested and cultivated highlands surrounding Bwindi.

Stop for lunch as arranged before continuing to your lodge.

Check in later in the day and spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the following morning's gorilla trek.

Today is dedicated to mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi.

After an early breakfast, transfer to your designated briefing point. Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers will explain the trekking procedures, safety guidelines and appropriate behaviour around the gorillas before you enter the forest.

Accompanied by ranger guides and trackers, begin your trek in search of your assigned habituated gorilla family. Trekking conditions and duration vary depending on the location of the gorillas, and the route can involve hills, dense vegetation and uneven or muddy forest terrain.

Once the gorillas are located, you will have the opportunity to observe the family for the regulated viewing period while following your ranger's instructions. Watch their behaviour as they feed, rest, groom and interact within their forest habitat.

After completing the trek, return to your lodge and spend the remainder of the day resting.

After breakfast, check out of your lodge and begin the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe.

Depending on your route, timing and what was already visited on Day 1, additional stops may be possible during the journey.

Continue towards Kampala or Entebbe, where your driver guide will drop you at the agreed location.
