3 Day Murchison Falls Safari & Ziwa Rhino Tracking

Your safari begins with an early departure from Entebbe, travelling north through Uganda's countryside towards Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

On arrival at Ziwa, meet your ranger guide for a guided rhino tracking experience. Unlike a traditional game drive, the activity is conducted on foot, giving you the opportunity to approach the rhinos at a safe distance while following the instructions of your ranger.

The experience also provides an introduction to rhino conservation in Uganda and the work being undertaken at the sanctuary.

After rhino tracking, stop for lunch before continuing north towards Murchison Falls National Park.

As you enter the Murchison region, the scenery gradually changes to the savannah, woodland and riverine landscapes characteristic of the park. Depending on your route, arrival time and lodge location, there may already be opportunities to see wildlife on the way to your accommodation.

Check in at your lodge and spend the evening relaxing after the day's journey.

Start early for a morning game drive through Murchison Falls National Park.

The cooler morning hours provide a good opportunity to search for wildlife across the park's open savannah and woodland. Species commonly associated with Murchison include elephants, Rothschild's giraffes, buffaloes, Uganda kobs and other antelopes. Your guide will also look for predators such as lions and, with some luck, leopards.

Return for lunch and a short break before heading to the Nile for an afternoon boat safari towards the base of Murchison Falls.

The river journey offers a completely different perspective of the park. Watch the banks and shallows for hippos, Nile crocodiles and waterbirds, while elephants, buffaloes and other animals may also be seen coming towards the river.

As the boat approaches the falls, the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic, culminating in views towards the point where the Nile surges through a narrow rocky gorge before continuing downstream.

After the boat safari, continue to the top of the falls. Here, you can walk to viewpoints overlooking the Nile as it funnels through the gorge, offering a closer perspective of the force of Murchison Falls and excellent opportunities for photography.

Return to your lodge after the day's activities.

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before beginning your journey back to Entebbe.

Depending on the final operating schedule, you may have an opportunity for additional wildlife viewing as you leave the park before continuing south.

Stop for lunch along the route and then proceed towards Kampala and Entebbe. Arrival is expected later in the afternoon or evening, depending on road and traffic conditions.

Your driver guide will drop you at your agreed location in Entebbe, bringing your 3 day Murchison Falls safari to an end.
