3 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari in Bwindi

Your gorilla safari begins in Entebbe, where you will meet your driver guide and start the journey towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda.

If travelling by road, leave Entebbe early and drive through the countryside towards the highlands surrounding Bwindi. The scenery changes considerably along the way, from towns and farmland to rolling hills and the increasingly mountainous landscapes of southwestern Uganda. Stops can be made during the journey for refreshments and lunch as arranged.

Alternatively, travellers choosing the fly-in option can take a scheduled domestic flight from Entebbe to the appropriate airstrip serving their booked sector of Bwindi, followed by a road transfer to the lodge.

After arrival, check in and spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Enjoy the forest surroundings, have dinner and prepare for the following morning's gorilla trek.

Today is the highlight of your safari.

After an early breakfast, transfer to the designated park briefing point. Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers will explain the trekking procedures, forest guidelines and appropriate behaviour around the gorillas before trekkers are organised into groups.

Accompanied by ranger guides, enter Bwindi's forest and begin tracking your assigned habituated gorilla family. Trekking conditions vary from day to day because the gorillas move freely through the forest. Depending on their location, the search may involve walking through thick vegetation, forest trails and steep or uneven terrain.

Once the gorillas are located, you will be able to observe them from the permitted distance for the regulated viewing period. Watching a gorilla family feeding, grooming, resting and interacting in its natural habitat is the defining experience of this safari.

After completing the trek, return to your lodge to rest and enjoy the remainder of the day.

Depending on your finishing time and arrangements, an optional community or cultural visit can be organised later in the afternoon.

After breakfast, check out of your lodge and begin the return journey to Entebbe.

For guests travelling by road, drive north through southwestern Uganda towards Kampala and Entebbe. The original itinerary includes a lunch stop and a visit to the Equator at Kayabwe, providing an opportunity to stretch your legs before continuing towards Entebbe.

Alternatively, guests using the fly-in option will transfer to the appropriate airstrip for a scheduled flight back to Entebbe.

Arrival times will depend on your chosen transport option, road conditions, traffic or flight schedule. Your driver guide will transfer you to your agreed drop-off point in Entebbe, marking the end of your 3 day Uganda gorilla safari.
