4 Day Uganda Gorillas, Chimpanzees & Wildlife Safari

Your safari begins with an early departure from Entebbe for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda.

Guests travelling by road will journey through Uganda's countryside towards the highlands surrounding Bwindi. The drive provides views of rural communities, farmland and the increasingly hilly landscapes of southwestern Uganda, with stops for lunch and refreshments along the way.

Alternatively, a scheduled domestic flight can be arranged from Entebbe to the appropriate airstrip serving your accommodation and trekking sector, followed by a road transfer to the lodge.

On arrival in Bwindi, check in and spend the remainder of the evening at leisure. Take time to rest after the journey and prepare for the following morning's gorilla trek.

After an early breakfast, transfer to your designated gorilla trekking briefing point. Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers will explain the trekking procedures and guidelines before you enter the forest.

Accompanied by ranger guides, begin your trek through Bwindi in search of your assigned habituated mountain gorilla family. The duration and difficulty of the trek vary depending on the gorillas' location, and the route may involve steep slopes, thick vegetation and uneven forest terrain.

Once the gorillas are located, you will have the opportunity to observe the family for the regulated viewing period, following the instructions of your ranger guides. Watch as the gorillas feed, rest, groom and interact within their forest habitat.

After completing the trek, return from the forest and continue your journey towards the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Depending on your trekking finish time and arrival in Ishasha, there may be an opportunity for an evening game drive. Ishasha is particularly known for its tree climbing lions, which may sometimes be seen resting in large fig trees. Your guide will also look for elephants, buffaloes, topis and other wildlife.

Continue to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Begin the morning with a game drive through the Ishasha sector, providing another opportunity to search for its tree climbing lions and other wildlife.

Explore the savannah with your driver guide, looking for elephants, buffaloes, topis and other species before continuing north towards the central sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After arriving and having lunch, head to the Kazinga Channel for an afternoon boat safari.

The channel connects Lake George and Lake Edward and attracts wildlife throughout the year. During the cruise, look for hippos in the water, Nile crocodiles along the banks and numerous species of waterbirds. Elephants, buffaloes and other animals may also be seen approaching the shoreline.

The boat safari provides a slower paced way to observe the park's wildlife after the morning game drive.

Return to your lodge after the cruise for dinner and your final night on safari.

After an early breakfast, transfer to Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee tracking.

Following a briefing, descend into the forested gorge with ranger guides in search of its habituated chimpanzees. Tracking conditions vary and may involve steep paths, dense vegetation and uneven terrain.

Listen for chimpanzee calls and watch the forest canopy for movement as your guides search for the community. Other primates, birds and forest wildlife may also be encountered during the trek.

After completing the chimpanzee tracking experience, begin the return journey to Entebbe.

Guests travelling by road will continue through western and central Uganda, with appropriate stops along the route. Arrival in Entebbe will depend on the duration of the chimpanzee trek, road conditions, traffic and departure time from Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Alternatively, where schedules allow, a domestic flight from Kasese to Entebbe can be arranged.

Your transfer ends at the agreed drop off point in Entebbe.
